MIDRC DICOM Viewer
How to open DICOM files on iPhone, iPad and Android
· VSchwan
A medical imaging download can contain many files belonging to one study. MIDRC is a free mobile DICOM viewer for viewing and learning. The Android release is on Google Play; the iPhone and iPad version is a public TestFlight beta.

What should I download?
Ask the imaging provider for the original DICOM study, often supplied as a folder or ZIP archive. A JPEG, screenshot or PDF report is different from a DICOM series. Keep the original files and the folder structure. The website does not accept study uploads.
On iPhone and iPad
Install Apple TestFlight, then join the public MIDRC beta using the TestFlight link. Save the DICOM files or ZIP in Files. Share a supported file with MIDRC, or select it through Import in the app. Open the imported study and choose a series. TestFlight is a beta distribution service; beta builds expire and may change.
On Android
Install MIDRC from its official Google Play listing. Save the original study on the device and use the app’s import controls to select the supported files. Android and iOS are separate releases: their versions and available tools may differ. The screenshots on the main website show the iOS interface.
Why are there several series?
A study can include several acquisitions or reconstructions. Open a series to browse its images. On iOS, window width and level, zoom and series navigation help you explore the data. Changing the display does not add information missing from the original images.
When can I use MPR and measurements?
The iOS viewer includes MPR and measurement tools. MPR needs a compatible series with regular geometry and adequate metadata. Physical measurements need valid image calibration; files without it use pixels. A single exported image is not a substitute for a suitable volume. Unsupported or incomplete files may be rejected.
Keep your study private
Your MIDRC library stays on your device; there is no developer image-upload backend. An optional connection to your own DICOMweb server contacts that server. Do not send identifiable patient data, passwords or PACS tokens to support. Use public demo data when reporting a problem.
MIDRC is for viewing and learning. It is not represented as a certified medical device and has not undergone clinical validation. Do not rely on it for primary diagnosis or treatment decisions. Ask your healthcare professional to explain your examination.
